An ecosystem pond is a pond that includes plants, micro-organisms, and fish. If you do not want fish, it’s not mandatory to have them in your pond but they aid in the ecology of your pond. The ecosystem pond has a cycle, it follows the nitrogen cycle that allows every organism to work with each other and not against it.
